Ronan McShane

Founder & Owner of Bushidog®, Ronan McShane has spent the last 30 years working with all breeds and age groups over a variety of disciplines.  He is certified in the use of canines for tracking and recovery and accredited as a Professional Dog Trainer and Behaviouralist.

 

Ronan has trained and devoted over 15 years to the field of detection and tracking dogs using Bavarian Mountain Hounds.

 

Ronan served with the United Nations Mission in West Africa (UNMIL, 2004-2006) having conducted anti-poaching patrols to protect bush elephant, pygmy hippo and other endangered wildlife.  It was this experience that Ronan found the breed range in training detection and tracking dogs could be utilised as highly valued members of a team.

Ronan has a Masters degree in Toxicology and was a key scientist in the international SEAMONITOR project, which tracked the marine migration of sharks, dolphins and salmon.

Ronan believes in building a solid foundation in animal training based on a combination of education, science and hands-on experience.
